Position Profile: Direct Support Professional (Home-Based Personal Care)

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide home-based personal care and behavioral support for an adult with challenging behaviors. This role requires a professional who can adhere strictly to a doctor’s treatment plan, maintain composure under pressure, and demonstrate unwavering integrity. The individual receiving support can present significant behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow and implement the prescribed treatment plan as directed by medical and behavioral health professionals.
• Provide personal care assistance, including but not limited to hygiene, meal preparation, and daily living activities.
• Monitor, manage, and respond appropriately to behavioral incidents with a focus on safety and de-escalation.
• Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of care activities, incidents, and progress per protocol.
• Communicate effectively with the individual, family members, and care team to ensure continuity of care.
• Uphold safety protocols and demonstrate situational awareness at all times.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in healthcare or behavioral support preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors or mental health needs.
• Proven ability to maintain professionalism and composure in high-stress situations.
• Strong commitment to following treatment plans and protocols without deviation.
• Exceptional attention to detail and integrity in handling sensitive information and situations.
• Ability to pass a thorough background check and obtain any necessary certifications (e.g., First Aid, CPR).
