Second Shift Yard Driver
The Dock Worker with a CDL is responsible for loading and unloading trucks, managing inventory, and transporting goods using commercial vehicles. This role ensures the efficient and safe handling of dairy products and materials, maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Loading and Unloading - Load and unload dairy products and materials from trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
- Transportation - Operate commercial vehicles to transport goods between the plant and distribution centers or other locations as needed.
- Inventory Management - Maintain accurate records of received and dispatched goods. Perform regular inventory checks and ensure proper storage of materials.
- Quality Control - Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for quality and accuracy. Report any discrepancies or damaged items.
- Equipment Maintenance - Perform routine maintenance and inspections on forklifts, trucks, and other equipment. Report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Documentation - Complete necessary paperwork, including bills of lading (BOL), delivery receipts, and inventory logs.
- Cleaning Tasks - Maintain a clean and organized dock area to ensure a safe working environment.
- Safety and Compliance - Adhere to all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies. Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT), State, and Federal Laws.
- Certifications: Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and forklift certification (or willingness to obtain one), with at least 1-year of verifiable satisfactory driving experience.
- Work Experience: 1-2 years previous experience in a warehouse role within the food or dairy industry is preferred. Prior knowledge of ERP/RF systems preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Ability to use hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and move heavy materials, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Work Environment: Ability to work in a fast-paced, refrigerated environment. May be exposed to wet and humid conditions. Will work near moving mechanical parts and power industrial equipment. Work at heights or in confined spaces. Willingness to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Work around raw, live animal odors. Work in a noisy environment (>85 decibels).

- Exercise judgment in making minor decisions affecting the accuracy and quality of work.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Basic math skills for measuring and recording data and basic computer skills for inventory management.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
