Multiple Openings - Tire Repair & Retread Production Workers

Akron, OH | $17.00/Hour | Monday-Friday | Temp-to-Hire

A well-established, family-owned tire repair company in Akron, Ohio is currently hiring for multiple full-time positions. For more than 50 years, this company has built a reputation for quality workmanship, employee loyalty, and treating their team like family.

This is NOT a car tire shop. The company specializes in inspecting, repairing, and processing commercial semi-truck tires that are received from tire dealers and service centers throughout the region.

All positions are full-time, Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM , providing 42.5 hours per week , including built-in overtime every week.

Starting Pay: $17.00/hour

Type: Temp-to-Hire with potential pay increase upon permanent hire

Position #1: Dock Worker / Tire Inspector

This position works outdoors year-round and is responsible for unloading incoming trailers filled with commercial truck tires. Employees will be trained to inspect and sort tires to determine whether they can be repaired and resold or must be scrapped.

Responsibilities:

• Unload semi-truck tires from incoming trailers
• Inspect and sort tires based on company guidelines
• Move and organize tires throughout the yard and facility
• Maintain a safe and organized work area
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions

Requirements:

• Ability to lift and move heavy commercial tires
• Comfortable working outside year-round
• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to work in a physically active environment

Position #2: Tire Groover & Filler

This position helps restore commercial truck tires by re-grooving tire tread patterns and filling damaged tread areas using specialized equipment.

Responsibilities:

• Re-groove tire tread patterns
• Use an extruder gun to fill damaged areas with new rubber
• Operate various air-powered tools
• Follow repair specifications and quality standards
• Inspect completed work for quality

Requirements:

• Mechanical aptitude preferred
• Ability to use hand and air tools
• Willingness to learn and be trained
• Strong attention to detail

Position #3: Tire Buffer

The Tire Buffer plays an important role in preparing tires for repair by removing damaged rubber and smoothing repair areas.

Responsibilities:

• Operate grinders, buffers, and other air-powered tools
• Remove damaged rubber from commercial truck tires
• Prepare tires for the repair process
• Follow safety procedures and quality standards
• Maintain production goals and work quality

Requirements:

• Experience with hand tools, grinders, or manufacturing equipment is a plus
• Ability to work in a production environment
• Strong attention to detail
• Willingness to learn and be trained
