Location: Cincinnati, OH 45219

Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: 4x10s | 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Pay Rate: $48 – $53 per hour

Position Overview

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking Surgical Assistant for an exciting job in Cincinnati, OH.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon during procedures by performing specific technical tasks under direct supervision.

• Position patients to ensure optimal exposure for surgical procedures.

• Provide visualization of the operative site through:

  • Placement and securing of retractors

  • Tissue manipulation and suctioning

  • Sponge packing and irrigation

  • Suture material handling (loops, tags, running sutures)

• Utilize appropriate techniques to assist with hemostasis and wound closure.

• Perform subcutaneous and subcuticular closures with absorbable/non-absorbable materials.

• Close skin using methods indicated by the surgeon (sutures, staples, etc.).

• Administer postoperative subcutaneous local anesthetic injections as directed.

• Select and apply wound dressings, including absorbent, occlusive, or immobilizing dressings.

• Assist in securing drainage systems to tissue.

• Act independently (when permitted) in harvesting veins, arteries, tendons, bone, and skin grafts.

• Stay updated on new surgical technologies and practices relevant to assigned specialties.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.

• Excellent eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.

• Ability to stand for long periods during surgical procedures.

• Sound judgment and application of scientific principles.

• Demonstrated competency in relevant surgical skills (hospital-provided training may apply).

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 4 years of general surgical experience, including at least 2 years in a specialty area.

Education & Certifications

Required:

• Associate’s degree in Surgical Assisting OR completion of an accredited Surgical Assisting program.

• BLS certification (American Heart Association).

Preferred:

• Certification as NSAA, CFA (AST), NCCPA (AAPA), or RNFA (NASC).

• Completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program OR equivalent experience (e.g., foreign medical graduate with 3+ years of U.S. surgical assistance experience).
