Yard Jockey/Hostler
We are looking for a Yard Jockey to assist in moving and spotting equipment required to facilitate the needs of warehouses in organizing and processing material for shipment or storage. Must like working in a high pace environment as we process between 20 to 40 trailers a day through 14 docks. You will also help eliminate congestion in the yard and streamline the loading and unloading process by managing the trailers that are delivered to the facility.
Driving off property is not necessary, as trailers are only moved between our docks and our fenced in trailer lot using an on-site tractor. You must be a responsible individual with great experience in driving industrial vehicles, CDL NOT required.
Responsibilities
· Moving 53’ trailers in and out of loading docks using an on-site tractor.
· Moving and handling equipment around the yard
· Keeping the equipment in a safe and proper working order
· Examining the functionality of incoming and outgoing equipment
· Operating the yard truck in a safe manner
· Preparing equipment for loading and dispatching
· Coordinating with Dock Coordinator in loading and unloading trailers
· Preparing and maintaining a report of the daily activities and daily yard checks
· Adhering to the health and safety protocols at all times
· Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
Skills
· Proven experience a Yard Jockey/Hostler
· Familiarity operating yard vehicles, trailers, and containers
· Good time management and organizational skills
· Good Radio Communication skills
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
· Ability to work flexible hours..
· Highly motivated and hardworking individual
· Strong multitasking abilities
· Physically able to get in and out of a yard horse and crank trailer legs multiple times throughout the day
· Communication, Reliability, Flexibility, Working Well Under Pressure
· High school diploma
