The Bar Manager is responsible for leading all bar operations, delivering exceptional guest experiences, controlling costs, and building a strong, accountable team culture.
Leadership & Team Management
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise bartenders and bar support staff
- Set clear expectations for performance, professionalism, and hospitality
- Coach, motivate, and hold team members accountable to standards
- Lead by example during all shifts, especially peak business hours
- Conduct performance reviews and participate in disciplinary actions when needed
Operations & Guest Experience
- Ensure fast, friendly, and consistent service at all times
- Maintain high standards for cleanliness, organization, and presentation
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly
- Monitor service flow to maximize efficiency and sales
- Maintain compliance with all alcohol service laws and company policies
Inventory, Cost Control & Ordering
- Manage liquor, beer, wine, and supply inventory
- Place accurate and timely orders to prevent shortages or overstock
- Control pour costs, waste, and theft
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile variances
- Implement systems to protect company assets
Financial & Sales Performance
- Drive bar revenue through upselling, promotions, and team training
- Meet or exceed labor and cost-of-goods targets
- Monitor daily sales, labor, and profitability metrics
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting
- Identify opportunities to improve margins
Systems, Policies & Compliance
- Enforce cash handling and POS procedures
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed
- Maintain health department and safety compliance
- Uphold company policies, standards, and brand image
- Support audits and internal controls
Event & Special Promotion Support
- Assist with planning and executing special events and promotions
- Coordinate bar operations for live music and high-volume events
- Ensure proper staffing and inventory for large crowds
- Collaborate with management on marketing initiatives
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with General Manager and ownership
- Communicate staffing, inventory, and operational needs
- Participate in management meetings
- Provide regular updates on performance and challenges

- Represent the company professionally at all times
- Be flexible with schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
